Domain protection for a nominee domain

Registration in our name is already included on every domain. Domain protection adds a transfer lock that only your account can release, minimal data, and a person who reads every complaint before anything happens to the domain.

Quick answer

What is Domain protection at NomineeName?

Domain protection is an option at NomineeName for $29 a year per domain, on top of the domain price. As of October 2026 it adds three things to the nominee registration already included: a transfer lock on by default with every transfer or DNS change confirmed from your account, minimal data (DomaineGoat LLC holds only your email), and a person who reads every complaint before any action on the domain.

Why a transfer lock matters more for a nominee domain

A nominee domain is registered in our company's name, so the most direct way to lose it is not at the registry: it is through your account. If someone gets into your account, they can try to move the domain to another registrar or point its DNS elsewhere.

With Domain protection, the registrar transfer lock is on by default. A transfer out or a change of nameservers or DNS records does not apply until it is confirmed from your account. You can still leave at any time: confirm the request, and the transfer code is free, from your account, at any time.

The lock does not stop a registry-level or court-ordered action. It protects you against mistakes and against someone using your account without you.

What does "minimal data" mean in practice?

It means that DomaineGoat LLC holds only your email for the domain. NomineeName already asks every customer for one verified email per domain and nothing else, so the option does not remove data you gave us: it writes that minimum into the terms of the protected domain.

The rule on releasing that email is the same for every domain, with or without the option. DomaineGoat LLC releases the data it holds only when Panamanian law requires it (a Panamanian court or prosecutor's order), or in a UDRP case. For a nominee domain, the registration data names our company, not you. See the disclosure policy.

How are complaints handled with Domain protection?

Every complaint about a protected domain is read by a person before any action is taken on the domain. Nothing is suspended by an automatic filter or a form. When the law allows it, you are told about the complaint, so you can answer it.

This review is part of the option only. Without Domain protection, complaints follow the abuse policy: a copyright, defamation, political or competitor complaint alone leads to no action, because it needs a decision that binds us, from a Panamanian court.

The strict exceptions keep the same delays with or without the option: phishing, malware, botnets and fraud that takes money from victims within 24 hours of a well-documented report, and child sexual abuse material immediately, with a report to NCMEC. Trademark disputes follow the UDRP, and the domain is locked within 2 business days of the dispute provider's request.

What Domain protection does not do

We describe the option exactly, so here is what it is not:

  • It is not a promise that a domain can never be suspended. The strict exceptions and the UDRP apply to every domain.
  • It does not change who the registrant is. That is already DomaineGoat LLC on every domain at NomineeName.
  • It does not change the disclosure rule, which is the same for every domain.
  • It does not add insurance, legal defence or a lawyer.
  • It does not hide anything from the registry beyond what nominee registration already hides.

If what you need is simply that no registrant record carries your name, the base price already does that. Compare both on the pricing page.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need Domain protection to have the domain in your name?

No. Every domain at NomineeName is registered in the name of DomaineGoat LLC by default, at no extra cost. Domain protection adds a transfer lock on by default, minimal data and a person who reads every complaint before any action, for $29 a year per domain.

Can I add or remove Domain protection later?

The option is chosen per domain and billed per year from your crypto balance. Removing it does not change the registrant: the domain stays registered in our company's name. Complaints about it then follow the abuse policy.

Does the transfer lock stop me from leaving?

No. It stops a transfer or DNS change that was not confirmed from your account. When you confirm, the transfer code is free, from your account, at any time, and there is no exit fee.

Will a protected domain be suspended for phishing?

Yes. Phishing, malware, botnets and fraud that takes money from victims are acted on within 24 hours of a well-documented report, with or without the option, and child sexual abuse material immediately. With Domain protection, a person reads the report before the action.

Who reviews complaints?

A member of the DomaineGoat LLC team reads every complaint about a protected domain before any action on it. No automatic filter or web form can suspend it. You are told about the complaint when the law allows. Domains without the option follow the abuse policy.

Does Domain protection change the disclosure rule?

No. The rule is the same for every domain: we release the data we hold only when Panamanian law requires it (a Panamanian court or prosecutor's order), or in a UDRP case. With the option, DomaineGoat LLC holds only your email for the domain.

Is this the same as "Registered in our name" elsewhere?

No. Some registrars sell registration in their name as an add-on. At NomineeName it is the base product, included in every price. Domain protection is a separate layer on top of it.

Does Domain protection apply to trademark disputes?

The UDRP applies to every domain, as ICANN requires. The complaint names DomaineGoat LLC as registrant; the domain is locked within 2 business days of the dispute provider's request, we tell you the same business day the dispute provider contacts us so you can respond, and the panel decision is applied. See UDRP and nominee domains.

How do I pay for it?

From the same prepaid balance as your domains, topped up in BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC (minimum $25). There is no card and no ID check.
