Best nominee domain services 2026: who registers the domain in its own name

A nominee service registers the domain in its own company's name, so yours stays out of the registrant record. An offshore address alone does not do that. This ranking puts one question first: is the service the registrant of record, or are you? Prices, coins and disclosure rules come next, each with a dated source.

The 6 privacy-first domain services, ranked by who holds the domain (October 2026)

Ranked for one need: keeping your name out of the registrant record, paid in crypto, without an ID check. A service that holds the domain ranks above one that only masks you. NomineeName publishes this page and ranks itself first, so weigh the cons we list for it. If Monero matters most, see which one to choose.

  1. 1

    NomineeName

    Registrant of record by default

Every domain is registered in the name of DomaineGoat LLC, a Panamanian company, at no extra cost. You are the beneficial owner under a written agreement, with a free transfer code and a hand-back to your own name.

    Best for
Keeping your name and address out of the registry, with written rules on takedowns and disclosure
    Price
$12.99 a year for .com, the same to renew
    KYC
None: one verified email per domain, kept private and never sent to the registry
    Crypto payment
BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC (no Monero)

    Pros

    • The registrant record and WHOIS show the company on every domain, not only on request
    • Data released only when Panamanian law requires it (a Panamanian court or prosecutor's order), or in a UDRP case
    • No takedown on complaint alone for copyright, defamation, political or competitor complaints
    • Hand-back to your own name free, on request to support from your verified email address, where the registry accepts you

    Cons

    • No Monero (XMR)
    • Pays in crypto only, so no card or PayPal
    • Cannot hold .us, .eu, .fr, .it or .ca: see extensions we cannot hold
    • No transparency figures before January 2027
  2. 2

    Njalla

    Registrant of record · Monero

Started by Peter Sunde in 2017. Per its terms as quoted on a forum in 2023, domains go in Njalla's name unless the customer asks otherwise. Its company moved to Costa Rica (njalla.srl) in late 2024.

    Best for
Paying in Monero, with the service as holder of record
    Price
    €15 a year for .com (njal.la/pricing, 8 October 2026)
    KYC
An email or XMPP address (secondary source)
    Crypto payment
BTC, LTC, XMR, ETH, plus PayPal (Njalla FAQ, 8 October 2026)

    Pros

    • Same holder model as NomineeName
    • Takes Monero (XMR)
    • One flat price per extension, running since 2017

    Cons

    • No written hand-back to your own name found in the sources we checked

€18.90 a year for .com (price list, 8 October 2026)

  4. 4

    1984 Hosting

    Iceland

Long-running Icelandic host (1984 ehf) that commits to tell customers about any request from authorities. Its domain offer says little about who holds the domain.

$15.99 a year for .com (price list, 8 October 2026)

Offshore hosting first, with the domain in your own name
    Price
    €18.75 a year for .com (whtop.com, secondary, checked 8 October 2026)
    KYC
    Minimal data (secondary source)

Why are GoDaddy, Namecheap and Porkbun not on this list?

Because their free privacy hides your details but leaves you as the holder of the domain.

  • GoDaddy puts its partner Domains By Proxy, LLC in the public record; its help page says the domain stays yours.
  • Namecheap shows Withheld for Privacy ehf, an Icelandic company that does not receive your data, per Namecheap's blog.
  • Porkbun shows Private by Design, LLC (North Carolina) and forwards mail; it is not offered on .us, .de, .uk, .ca or .au.

That privacy costs nothing, and it is enough for many people. It is not registrant-of-record registration: your name stays with the registrar, and with the registry when it keeps contact data. See every name traced in our registrant-of-record index.

Does an offshore address keep your name out of the record?

Not by itself. An offshore service is one whose company sits outside the customer's country, often in Iceland, Panama or Costa Rica. The address alone protects little. What counts is whose name the registrant record holds and which court can order its release. Three questions settle it:

  1. Who is the registrant of record: the service, or you?
  2. Which country's court order does the service require before releasing data?
  3. Is that rule written on its site, with dates?

Note on wording: most services here, NomineeName included, are not ICANN-accredited registrars themselves. NomineeName registers every domain through its ICANN-accredited registrar partner, shown in the RDAP record.

Which nominee or privacy service should you choose?

Pick by the one thing you cannot give up.

  • Your name out of the registry, with written rules: NomineeName. Registration in the company's name is included; Domain protection adds a transfer lock, minimal data and a person who reads every complaint before any action, for $29 a year.
  • Payment in Monero: Njalla, OrangeWebsite or 1984 Hosting. NomineeName does not accept XMR.
  • Hosting and domain together: 1984 Hosting, FlokiNET or OrangeWebsite.
  • Free privacy is enough: a mainstream registrar costs less, and you stay the holder.

A .de, .uk or .nl name is a special case: those registries ask for a holder's postal address. With NomineeName they receive the company's. See .de and .uk.

Nominee domain services: FAQ

What is the best nominee domain service in 2026?

It depends on who should hold the domain. If you want the service's company in the registry instead of you, NomineeName and Njalla do that. NomineeName adds a written disclosure rule tied to Panamanian courts and a .com at $12.99. Njalla accepts Monero, which NomineeName does not. Facts checked on 19 October 2026.

Registering a domain through a company in another country is a long-standing practice, but we cannot say it is lawful for you: that depends on the law where you live and where your site is used. ICANN rules apply to every accredited registrar, offshore or not. A working email is verified, abuse reports must be handled, and trademark disputes go through the UDRP. This is not legal advice.

Does an offshore service keep my name out of WHOIS?

Most hide it from public WHOIS and RDAP, as mainstream registrars do. Fewer keep it out of the registrant record. NomineeName is a nominee domain registration service from Panama: every domain is registered in the name of DomaineGoat LLC by default, so the registration record and WHOIS show the company, never you — no ID, no KYC, paid in crypto.

Can an offshore service refuse a foreign court order?

It can require an order from its own country's courts. NomineeName releases customer data only when Panamanian law requires it (a Panamanian court or prosecutor's order), or in a UDRP case. See our disclosure policy.

How much does a .com cost at these services?

As of October 2026, 1984 Hosting lists $15.99, Njalla €15, OrangeWebsite €18.90 and FlokiNET €18.75 (secondary), each dated in the ranking above. NomineeName charges $12.99/year, with registration in the company's name included and the same price to renew. Every extension is listed on our pricing page.
