Quick answer

Can I register a .app domain in your company's name?

Yes: you can register a .app domain in our name at NomineeName. The registrant is DomaineGoat LLC, incorporated in Panama, so the registrant record and WHOIS/RDAP show the company, never you. As of October 2026, .app costs $16.99/year, nominee registration included. No ID, no KYC — only a verified email, kept private — and you pay in crypto.

Who registers .app in a company's name?

A .app is made for mobile and web apps and SaaS products. Indie developers often publish an app under a studio name while working alone. App store listings already show a developer name; there is no need for the domain to add a home address. Registering the .app in our name keeps the registry record on our company.

What the .app registry receives, what WHOIS shows, what we keep

WhoWhat they get for your .app domain
Google Registry (Charleston Road Registry Inc.)DomaineGoat LLC as holder, with the company's address. Nothing about you.
Public WHOIS / RDAPThe company as registrant, or fields the registry redacts. Never your name.
NomineeNameYour verified email and your orders. The email never goes to the registry.
YouBeneficial owner: DNS, renewals and the transfer code (free, from your account, at any time).

What does the .app registry ask of a holder?

Google Registry, the trade name of Charleston Road Registry Inc., runs .app under an ICANN contract. Anyone may register a .app: there is no eligibility rule. The registry receives the registrant data that the registrar sends, which in our model is our company's. ICANN's email check within 15 days applies to the contact we hold, which is your verified email.

What should you check before registering .app?

  • HTTPS only: the whole .app extension is on the browsers' HSTS preload list. A .app site opens over HTTPS only, so install a TLS certificate before you publish.
  • Certificates: free certificates such as Let's Encrypt validate the domain, not the registrant, so our company's name does not get in the way.
  • Term: 1 to 10 years.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my .app site not open over HTTP?

Because .app is on the HSTS preload list built into browsers. They refuse plain HTTP for every .app name. Set up a TLS certificate on your server or hosting before you point the domain. This is a rule of the extension, not of NomineeName.

Can I use a .app in my app store listing while it is in your name?

Yes. App stores check that you control the website, usually through a DNS record or a file on the site. You manage the DNS from your account, so you can pass those checks. The holder of record does not need to match the developer name.

Who runs .app, .dev and .page?

All three are run by Google Registry, the trade name of Charleston Road Registry Inc. They share the HSTS preload rule: sites open over HTTPS only. None has a registrant restriction, and we can hold each of them in our company's name.

Who owns a .app domain held in your name?

DomaineGoat LLC is the registrant of record and you are the beneficial owner, under a written agreement in our terms. Your transfer code: free, from your account, at any time. The hand-back of the .app name to you is free, on request to support from your verified email address. It works where the registry accepts you as holder.

Can a complaint take my .app domain down?

Not on its own: copyright, defamation, political or competitor complaints need a decision from a Panamanian court. The strict exceptions have fixed delays: phishing, malware, botnets and fraud that takes money from victims within 24 hours of a well-documented report, child sexual abuse material immediately. See the abuse policy.
