Quick answer

Can I register a .net domain in your company's name?

Yes: you can register a .net domain in our name at NomineeName. The registrant is DomaineGoat LLC, incorporated in Panama, so the registrant record and WHOIS/RDAP show the company, never you. As of October 2026, .net costs $13.99/year, nominee registration included. No ID, no KYC — only a verified email, kept private — and you pay in crypto.

Who registers .net in a company's name?

A .net is the usual choice for networks, infrastructure and technical services, and the common fallback when the .com is taken. Hosting companies, VPN or relay operators, API platforms and status pages use it. These projects already publish server details. Many owners prefer that the domain does not add a personal name and home address as well.

What the .net registry receives, what WHOIS shows, what we keep

WhoWhat they get for your .net domain
VerisignNo registrant contact data: .net is a thin registry. The registrar's record names DomaineGoat LLC, not you.
Public WHOIS / RDAPThe company as registrant, or fields the registry redacts. Never your name.
NomineeNameYour verified email and your orders. The email never goes to the registry.
YouBeneficial owner: DNS, renewals and the transfer code (free, from your account, at any time).

What does the .net registry ask of a holder?

Verisign also runs .net, under an ICANN registry agreement, so every ICANN rule for generic extensions applies. The registry has no condition on who may hold a .net: no nationality, no residence, no business number. Like .com, .net is a "thin" registry: Verisign receives no registrant contact data. The registrant record, with a name, an address and a working contact, sits with the registrar. In our model, that record is our company's, and so are the registrar's ICANN escrow copy and the public RDAP record. Your verified email stays in your NomineeName account.

Infrastructure domains get abuse reports more often than most. Our rule is simple: no takedown on a complaint alone, but phishing, malware and botnets are acted on within 24 hours of a well-documented report.

What should you check before registering .net?

  • Wholesale change ahead: Verisign has announced a .net wholesale increase for 1 March 2027.
  • Term: 1 to 10 years per order; multi-year renewals are possible.
  • Lock: the optional Domain protection keeps a transfer lock on and asks your account to confirm every DNS change. That suits a domain that routes production traffic.

Frequently asked questions

Does a .net in a company's name work with my servers and certificates?

Yes. The registrant field has no effect on DNS. You set nameservers and records from your account, and certificate authorities validate the domain through DNS or HTTP, not through the holder's name. Mail, APIs and TLS work as on any .net.

What happens if someone reports my .net for abuse?

We check it against the abuse policy. Phishing, malware, botnets and fraud that takes money from victims are acted on within 24 hours of a well-documented report, and child sexual abuse material immediately. Other complaints, such as copyright or a competitor's claim, need a decision that binds us, from a Panamanian court. With Domain protection, a person reads every complaint before any action. Details are on the abuse policy.

Can I hold the .net and the .com of one name together?

Yes. Register both in our name and point them to the same site, or use the .net for infrastructure and the .com for the public. Each domain has its own renewal date. Both registry records name our company.

Who owns a .net domain held in your name?

DomaineGoat LLC is the registrant of record and you are the beneficial owner, under a written agreement in our terms. Your transfer code: free, from your account, at any time. The hand-back of the .net name to you is free, on request to support from your verified email address. It works where the registry accepts you as holder.

Can a complaint take my .net domain down?

Not on its own: copyright, defamation, political or competitor complaints need a decision from a Panamanian court. The strict exceptions have fixed delays: phishing, malware, botnets and fraud that takes money from victims within 24 hours of a well-documented report, child sexual abuse material immediately. See the abuse policy.
