Quick answer

Can I register a .org domain in your company's name?

Yes: you can register a .org domain in our name at NomineeName. The registrant is DomaineGoat LLC, incorporated in Panama, so the registrant record and WHOIS/RDAP show the company, never you. As of October 2026, .org costs $12.99/year, nominee registration included. No ID, no KYC — only a verified email, kept private — and you pay in crypto.

Who registers .org in a company's name?

A .org is the extension of nonprofits, open-source projects, communities and foundations. Many of them start as informal groups with no legal entity yet. A volunteer who registers the name often ends up with their home address tied to the project for years. Registering the .org in our name keeps the volunteer out of the registry record, while the group decides who controls the account.

What the .org registry receives, what WHOIS shows, what we keep

WhoWhat they get for your .org domain
Public Interest Registry (PIR)DomaineGoat LLC as holder, with the company's address. Nothing about you.
Public WHOIS / RDAPThe company as registrant, or fields the registry redacts. Never your name.
NomineeNameYour verified email and your orders. The email never goes to the registry.
YouBeneficial owner: DNS, renewals and the transfer code (free, from your account, at any time).

What does the .org registry ask of a holder?

Public Interest Registry (PIR) runs .org under an ICANN contract. There is no condition to prove nonprofit status: anyone may register a .org. PIR raised its wholesale fee on 1 June 2026. As holder of record, our company is the name PIR and RDAP show. When a project later becomes a registered association, it can ask for the domain in its own name and appear as the holder.

What should you check before registering .org?

  • Shared projects: give the account email to a role mailbox, not one person, so control survives a change of maintainer.
  • Hand-over: the transfer code is free, so moving the .org to the association's own registrar costs nothing at our end.
  • Term: 1 to 10 years per order.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be a nonprofit to register a .org?

No. PIR sets no eligibility rule for .org, and we ask for no proof of status. Clubs, open-source maintainers, newsletters and companies use .org. Registered in our name, the registry sees our company as holder, whatever kind of project you run behind it.

Can our association take the .org in its own name later?

Yes. Ask from the account or by email from the verified address. We change the registrant to the association, which then gives the registry its own details. The transfer code stays free if the association prefers another registrar.

Will donors trust a .org registered to a company?

Donors see your site, not the registry record. Publish your organisation's name, purpose and contact on the site itself. RDAP shows our company as registrant, which protects the volunteer who would otherwise appear there. You can move the domain to the association at any time.

Who owns a .org domain held in your name?

DomaineGoat LLC is the registrant of record and you are the beneficial owner, under a written agreement in our terms. Your transfer code: free, from your account, at any time. The hand-back of the .org name to you is free, on request to support from your verified email address. It works where the registry accepts you as holder.

Can a complaint take my .org domain down?

Not on its own: copyright, defamation, political or competitor complaints need a decision from a Panamanian court. The strict exceptions have fixed delays: phishing, malware, botnets and fraud that takes money from victims within 24 hours of a well-documented report, child sexual abuse material immediately. See the abuse policy.
